ARISE

The beautiful story of Arise is comprised completely in the unique make-up of the individuals who call Arise their home. Although vastly different in each of ur  journeys, there are 3 cords that bind each of us together.

We Are…

We are real people infused with dynamic faith, committed to a common vision, joined together in the covenant love of our Creator.

We Used to Be…

We used to be completely broken but are now grateful for undeserved redemption, astonished by amazing Grace, healed by forgiveness, and humbled by the divine invitation to be included in the greatest cause on earth.

We Serve…

We serve a good and perfect God. The nations are His dwelling and our lives are His vessels. We have compassion for the poor and our hearts are open to the rich.

    Connections  & Outreach

Sarah Huffman grew up in the small town of Fergus Falls, MN where she attended the local high school and soon after graduation also received her Associate’s degree from Minnesota State Community and Technical College. From there, not being certain which career path she should take, Sarah spent some time traveling to serve on a mission trip in Ireland to work with kids and families. During this time she felt confirmed in her call to ministry and soon after was able to connect with Arise Church where she now serves in Connections and Outreach. Sarah is blessed to be surrounded with strong Christian friends and family that have helped shape her into the person she is today. Alongside her role at the church she is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry through Trevecca Nazarene University. In her spare time, Sarah loves spending time with friends and family, reading, watching movies, and drinking coffee!

  • Janie Borkowski

    Rise Up  Kids  Ministry

    jborkowski@arisechurchsd.org

Janie Borkowski grew up in Wolsey, SD. She attended Wolsey-Wessington High School, but spent most of her time in Huron, SD where she attended church and worked. Janie got her Bachelor’s Degree from Black Hills State University and her Master’s Degree from the University of Sioux Falls. Having grown up in a Christian home, she has an amazing older sister and parents that helped her become the person she is now! Janie’s journey to Arise Church came with it’s highs and lows, but as she has become more connected, she has found God is doing some refining in her life. When not working at the church or Northern State University, she thoroughly enjoys spending time with her puppy Sophie (who happens to love Sarah more than Janie). Janie is the Rise Up Kids Director here at Arise Church, and loves getting seeing the kids get excited each week.

What we believe

...About GOD

We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).  We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to man and to become the Savior of the lost world.

…About Mankind

We believe man was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him, but became alienated from that relationship through sinful disobedience.  As a result, man is totally incapable of coming back into a right relationship with God by his own effort.

…About Salvation

We believe the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sins.  Therefore, salvation only occurs when a person places his faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as the sufficient payment for his sin.

…About the Christian Life

We believe every Christian should live for Christ and not for himself.  By obedience to the Word and daily yielding to the Spirit, every believer should mature and become conformed to the image of Christ.  We believe it is the Holy Spirit that fills and empowers us to live a life conformed to Christ’s image.

…About the Church

We believe the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the Head.  The members are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ.  The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and thru love, making Him known to a lost world.

....About the Holy Scriptures

We believe in the plenary inspiration of the Holy Scriptures, by which we understand the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, given by divine inspiration, inerrantly revealing the will of God concerning us in all things necessary to our salvation, so that whatever is not contained therein is not to be enjoined as an article of faith.

APOSTLES’ CREED

“I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.  The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, and holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.”
