Arise Leadership

The beautiful story of Arise is comprised completely in the unique make-up of the individuals who call Arise their home. Although vastly different in each of our  journeys, there are 3 cords that bind each of us together.

We Are…

We are real people infused with dynamic faith, committed to a common vision, joined together in the covenant love of our Creator.

We Used to Be…

We used to be completely broken but are now grateful for undeserved redemption, astonished by amazing Grace, healed by forgiveness, and humbled by the divine invitation to be included in the greatest cause on earth.

We Serve…

We serve a good and perfect God. The nations are His dwelling and our lives are His vessels. We have compassion for the poor and our hearts are open to the rich.

Joe Hauer

Excited to do Church in a new way by Loving God, Serving People, and Leading others into a relationship with Jesus, he set off to plant Arise Church.

Luke Voorhees

Luke was eventually lead into ministry and served as a Worship Leader in MN for 4 years before going back to school to become a Pastor. Most recently, Luke and his family felt called by God to move to Aberdeen, SD to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the community. Luke is currently the part time Worship Pastor at Arise Church. Luke also works full time as an Addictions Counselor at Avera Addiction Care Center. He is passionate about helping and serving people. Other passions include; spending time with his family, being outdoors, and doing anything that is related to baseball and music!

Rob Haworth

co-Next Generation Pastor

Rob grew up... well, everywhere! As a kid, his parents were missionaries in Brazil for six years. The rest of his life, his dad was a pastor in multiple states, so he learned to live a life that looked "churchy" on the surface but had little love or intimacy with the Lord... way more religion than actual relationship. That relationship truly began when God got Rob's attention in high school, and from there, God used Rob's time at Olivet Nazarene University to clarify and strengthen a call to Youth Ministry. In 2016, he graduated with a BS in that field, and set off to follow God into so many awesome ministry experiences! None of those were better, though, than heading to Omaha, NE, where he met the most beautiful woman on the planet. (Keep scrolling down for evidence of this statement...) In August of 2018, he married Brittany, and God has been using them as a couple ever since.

In June of 2020, Rob and Brittany came to Arise as co-youth pastors, and God placed this little town of Aberdeen on their hearts. Recently, their role has shifted from Youth Ministry to Next Gen Ministry, so loving on young people is LITERALLY his job description. His passion is to see the next generation of Christ followers realize and live into their identity in Christ as loved, redeemed, transformed, and empowered sons and daughters of God.

Yes: people, medium-rare steak, Kansas City Chiefs football, sports, music, chocolate, dogs

No: Missing Sunday naps, re-wearing old socks, air freshener landing on his skin

Heck No: the Las Vegas Raiders

Brittany Haworth

co-Next Generation Pastor

Brittany grew up a pastor's daughter in Bellevue, Nebraska. After graduating from Bellevue West High School, she headed to MidAmerica Nazarene University where she received her bachelor's degree in Ministry and followed God's call for her to return home and serve her home church, Heritage Hill, under her Dad's leadership - years she wouldn't trade for anything! Brittany served in many areas at Heritage Hill, but spent the majority of her time there as the Worship Pastor, leading alongside her Mom. In a Freddy's diner in 2016, she met the best guy on the planet (equipped with muscles and a baseball hat) and she married him in 2018. Six months later, life began to look drastically different and God led them into a wilderness that ultimately brought them to Arise Church where they serve together as Co-Next Gen Pastors. Brittany was given a strong foundation of faith from her parents that set her up to love Jesus. It is this very faith and the continued love and support of her husband, Rob, that gives her the strength to minister in a world that is so broken and unfair. Her desire is to encourage those who are going through trials and help them understand and rest in God's goodness and faithfulness. She loves anything that has to do with Rob, having uninterrupted time with her family, snuggles with her puppy Koa, and chocolate cake.

Sarah Huffman

Connections & Outreach

Sarah Huffman grew up in the small town of Fergus Falls, MN where she attended the local high school and soon after graduation also received her Associate’s degree from Minnesota State Community and Technical College. From there, Sarah spent some time traveling to serve on a mission trip in Ireland to work with kids and families. During this time she felt confirmed in her call to ministry and soon after was able to connect with Arise Church where she now serves in Connections and Outreach. Sarah is blessed to be surrounded with strong Christian friends and family that have helped shape her into the person she is today. Alongside her role at the church she is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry through Trevecca Nazarene University. In her spare time, Sarah loves spending time with friends and family, reading, watching movies, and drinking coffee!

Michaela Jones

Discipleship & Missions

Michaela Jones grew up in Mitchell, SD where she graduated from Mitchell Senior High. She attended college at South Dakota State University where she earned a Bachelors of Science with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. While in college Michaela had twin girls Portlyn and Braelyn. Michaela moved back to Mitchell in December of 2011 and married Adam Jones the following June. She was blessed to gain another daughter Jaydn, who was born to Adam previously. It was only weeks after moving back to Mitchell that Michaela was invited to church and everything about her life began to change. She gave her life to Jesus in March of 2012. She was called into ministry in 2013 and served Harvest Community Church in Mitchell for 6 years as Youth Pastor. Now God has shifted her focus to equipping people of all ages how to feel confident in sharing the love and hope of Jesus as well as how to go and make disciples. Michaela teaches middle school and high school science at Mitchell Christian School. She loves traveling, being outdoors and exploring the world God created, laughing with friends and family, scuba diving with her husband, hiking, quiet prayer time, and not to mention adrenaline inducing activities like skydiving.

Hope Smith

Toddler Director

Hope grew up in Aberdeen, SD graduating from Aberdeen Central. She has a beautiful daughter who recently made her a grandma to a perfect little boy! She has battled numerous health conditions throughout her life. The newest one led her to Arise Church where she reconnected with her faith. Having always had a connection with children, the call to teach and love them was an easy decision. In her free time she enjoys volunteering to help others, crafting, gardening, reading, watching movies and making memories with family and friends.
